Truffled Cauliflower Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 large cauliflower head
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari (for a gluten-free option)
  • 2 tablespoons TRUFFLE OIL (WHITE or BLACK according to preference)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Grill:

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Prepare the Cauliflower:

  • Remove the leaves from the cauliflower head and trim the stem, leaving the core intact. Cut the cauliflower into 1-inch thick slices to create cauliflower steaks.

Prepare the Marinade:

  • In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce (or tamari), truffle oil, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, maple syrup (or honey), salt, and black pepper.

Marinate the Cauliflower:

  • Brush both sides of each cauliflower steak with the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Let them marinate for at least 15-20 minutes to allow the flavours to absorb.

Grill the Cauliflower Steaks:

  • Place the marinated cauliflower steaks on the preheated grill. Grill for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until they are tender and have nice grill marks.

Baste with Marinade:

  • While grilling, baste the cauliflower steaks with the remaining marinade to add extra flavour.

Optional: Finish in the Oven (Broil):

  • If you want a slightly crispy texture, you can transfer the grilled cauliflower steaks to a baking sheet and broil them in the oven for a few minutes until golden brown.

Garnish and Serve:

  • Garnish the grilled truffle cauliflower steaks with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot.
